Enrolled Midwife

About the role

We are seeking an Enrolled Midwife to join our maternal health team in Kamwokya, Uganda. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Midwife or Clinical Officer, providing essential care to expectant mothers, newborns, and families throughout the antenatal, delivery, and post‑natal periods.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and welcome expectant mothers, conduct antenatal assessments, and perform basic fetal monitoring.
• Assist the Registered Midwife or Clinical Officer during labour, delivery, and immediate newborn care.
• Provide post‑natal care to mothers and infants, monitor recovery, and report concerns.
• Support family planning clinics, counselling sessions and method provision under supervision.
• Identify signs of obstetric complications and promptly alert senior staff.
• Participate in antenatal and post‑natal education on nutrition, hygiene, immunisation and newborn care.
• Assist with cervical cancer screening, HIV counselling and testing as directed.
• Maintain accurate client records, stock levels and assist with clinic inventory management.
• Ensure strict infection prevention and control during all clinical procedures.

Required profile

• Mid‑level qualification in midwifery (Enrolled Midwife).
• Minimum 12 months of relevant clinical experience.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow clinical protocols.
• Commitment to providing respectful, dignified care to all clients.
