Executive Director – Pan‑African Feminist Organization

About the role

Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) is seeking a visionary Executive Director to steer its next decade of impact. This senior leadership position will guide the organization through a period of strategic transformation, strengthening its role as a leading voice for feminist leadership across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of AMwA’s 2026–2036 strategic vision.
• Strengthen organizational culture, leadership practices, and shared accountability.
• Build and deepen partnerships across feminist ecosystems to expand influence.
• Diversify and increase resource mobilization for long‑term sustainability.
• Maintain and nurture relationships with the Board, staff, partners, and broader movements.
• Guide the organization through transition while positioning it for future growth.

Required profile

• Deep understanding and experience within African feminist or women’s rights ecosystems.
• Significant senior leadership experience in feminist, women’s rights, or social‑justice organisations.
• Proven fundraising track record and established donor relationships.
• Political awareness of regional and continental dynamics.
• Strong people‑leadership and change‑management capabilities.
• Leadership grounded in integrity, accountability, and collaboration.
