Field Officer - Internal Audit

About the role

GiveDirectly delivers cash transfers to millions of people living in poverty and is looking for a Field Officer - Internal Audit in the Amuria and Karamoja districts of Uganda. The officer audits the work of the enrolment team, which surveys households and enrolls them in the programme. The role reports to the Associate Field Manager - Internal Audit and is a temporary, field-based position lasting 3 months; applications are processed on a rolling basis.

Key responsibilities

• Assess field processes and recommend corrections and improvements.
• Measure the quality of Field Officer data against data quality standards and report inconsistencies.
• Assess the field team's compliance with GiveDirectly field processes and policies.
• Identify and report key risks associated with the programme in the community.
• Report cases of fraud and bribery by GiveDirectly staff or recipients.
• Examine local stakeholders' assessments of the programme within their community.

Required profile

• Ateiso (Amuria) and Ngakarimojong (Karamoja) languages.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• At least 2 years of field experience, preferably in disadvantaged communities.
• Ability to audit recipient surveys and associated processes.
• Some monitoring and evaluation experience.
• Physical fitness and the ability to cope with difficult weather or terrain.

Required skills

• Computer and mobile device data entry and assessment.
• Critical thinking and good judgment in resolving operational issues.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent the organisation externally.
