Finance Manager – Uganda

About the role

We are looking for a Finance Manager to lead the financial management of M‑KOPA Uganda, a fast‑growing asset‑fintech that provides smartphones, solar systems and other essential assets on a daily‑repayment model. The role combines rigorous finance reporting with a commercial partnership to drive unit‑economics and product decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end monthly close, including accruals, pre‑payments, inter‑company transactions, depreciation and FX.
• Prepare the monthly management reporting pack, executive commentary and variance analysis that isolates market‑specific effects.
• Maintain and enhance the IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss model, provisioning and bad‑debt monitoring.
• Manage treasury, compliance and statutory/regulatory reporting for the Uganda entity.
• Document funding and compliance processes and support due‑diligence activities.
• Partner with the commercial team to analyse loan‑book performance, model new product launches, assess pricing and supply decisions, and build financial cases for leadership and board discussions.

Required profile

• Hands‑on finance professional with high ownership, capable of shaping processes and strategy.
• Experience in financial reporting, monthly close and IFRS compliance, preferably in a credit‑oriented business.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate loan‑book data into actionable insights.
• Comfortable working closely with commercial teams and influencing business decisions.
