Internal Audit Manager

About the role

The Internal Audit Manager leads, manages and executes independent assurance and consulting engagements for Uganda operations and regional coverage. The role evaluates governance, risk management, compliance and internal control processes while ensuring audit coverage is risk‑based and aligned to the annual audit plan and Group Internal Audit standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a risk‑based annual internal audit plan covering operations, products, support functions, technology and outsourced services.
• Lead audit engagements from planning through reporting and follow‑up, including detailed audit programmes and testing of controls.
• Prepare audit reports, dashboards and recommendations; track and escalate audit issues.
• Provide assurance on governance, finance, investments, operations, compliance and customer‑related risks.
• Champion data analytics and continuous auditing, supporting automation and emerging risk initiatives.
• Supervise, coach and develop audit resources, promoting a high‑performance audit culture.
• Participate in management and governance forums, manage audit unit budgets and drive methodology improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading and managing internal audit engagements.
• Strong knowledge of IIA Standards and Group IA methodology.
• Ability to perform root‑cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Experience supervising and coaching audit teams.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and stakeholder management.
