Fire Crew Chief

About the role

The Fire Crew Chief leads a fire crew to deliver high‑quality resource protection and fire‑fighting support for structural, aircraft and other hazardous operations. This role ensures rapid, safe response while minimizing loss of life and property.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the lead crew member at assigned sites, overseeing fire‑suppression, rescue and prevention activities.
• Maintain operational readiness of personnel, vehicles and equipment.
• Direct fire attack, confinement, salvage, overhaul, ventilation and rescue operations.
• Assess and document initial emergency scene conditions and report to supervisors.
• Manage care and maintenance of fire‑fighting equipment, fire station and surrounding grounds.
• Resolve minor administrative and personnel issues; refer major matters to senior officers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum six (6) years of experience in fire services.
• Associate’s degree in fire science management, emergency management, public administration or related field (preferred).
• Certifications: Fire Fighter I & II, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, HazMat Operations, Hazardous Materials Incident Commander, and CPR/First Responder.
• Fluent in English for reading, writing and reporting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of basic math calculations.
