Fire Crew Chief

About the role

The Fire Crew Chief leads a fire crew to deliver high‑quality resource protection and fire‑fighting support for structural, aircraft and other hazardous operations. This position operates under Department of Defense (DoD) contracts and follows NFPA standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the lead crew member on site, directing fire‑suppression, rescue and prevention activities.
• Ensure all fire‑fighting personnel, vehicles and equipment are operational and ready for deployment.
• Control fire attack, confinement, salvage, overhaul, ventilation and rescue operations, providing first‑responder care.
• Assess and document initial emergency scene conditions and report to supervisors.
• Oversee maintenance of fire‑fighting equipment, fire station and surrounding grounds.
• Resolve minor administrative and personnel issues; escalate major matters to senior fire officers.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Required profile

• Minimum six (6) years of experience in fire services.
• Associate’s degree in fire science management, emergency management, public administration or related field preferred.
• DoD, IFSAC or National Pro‑Board certifications: Fire Fighter I & II, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, HazMat Operations; Airport Fire Fighter if applicable.
• Hazardous Materials Incident Commander certification.
• First Responder and CPR qualification.
• Ability to work in remote, uncomfortable locations and under adverse weather conditions.
