Fire Crew Chief – Lead Firefighter Team

About the role

The Fire Crew Chief leads a dedicated fire crew to protect resources and provide fire‑fighting support for structural, aircraft and other hazardous operations. This position operates under Department of Defense, contract and NFPA standards, ensuring safety and rapid response in challenging environments.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the lead crew member on site, directing fire‑suppression, rescue and prevention activities.
• Maintain operational readiness of personnel, vehicles and equipment.
• Control fire attack, confinement, salvage, overhaul, ventilation and rescue operations.
• Assess and document emergency scene conditions and report to supervisors.
• Oversee care and maintenance of fire‑fighting equipment, station and grounds.
• Resolve minor administrative and personnel issues; escalate major matters to senior officers.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Required profile

• Minimum six (6) years of fire service experience.
• Associate’s degree in fire science management, emergency management, public administration or related field preferred.
• Relevant certifications (Fire Fighter I & II, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, HazMat Operations, Airport Fire Fighter where applicable).
• Hazardous Materials Incident Commander certification.
• First Responder and CPR qualifications.
• Ability to work long hours in remote, uncomfortable and hazardous conditions.
