Firefighter

About the role

The Firefighter protects lives and property by performing rescue, fire‑fighting, and hazardous‑materials operations. This role involves responding to fires, vehicle accidents, floods, bomb incidents, and dangerous substance spills.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct search, rescue, and fire‑fighting operations for fires, accidents, floods, bomb incidents, and hazardous‑material spills.
• Operate emergency response vehicles, hand and power tools, ladders, hoses, pumps, foam generators, and specialized nozzles.
• Perform salvage and overhaul to minimize damage after incidents.
• Participate in station drills, emergency‑procedure training, and hazardous‑materials response.
• Maintain and operate fire‑suppression equipment such as water‑charged hose lines, boom and ground‑sweep nozzles.
• Respond to hazardous‑materials emergencies in accordance with regulations.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum one (1) year of fire‑fighting experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Current state driver’s license and ability to obtain required certifications.
• Physical ability to perform interior structural firefighting and work in remote, uncomfortable conditions.

Required skills

• Operation of emergency response vehicles and driver‑operator certifications (Pumper, ARFF, MWS).
• Use of hand and power tools for ventilation, ladder placement, and hose handling.
• Operation of pumps, foam generators, boom and ground‑sweep nozzles, and water‑charged hose lines.
• Hazardous‑materials response procedures and certifications (IFSAC, DOD, Pro‑Board).
• Telecommunicator I and II certification.
