First Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs

About the role

Busitema University seeks a visionary academic leader to serve as the First Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Reporting directly to the Vice‑Chancellor, the incumbent will help steer the university toward its mission of academic and professional excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Vice‑Chancellor in providing strategic leadership for the university’s academic vision.
• Oversee academic administration, policy development, and planning across at least six faculties and related institutes.
• Collaborate with Faculty Deans, the University Council, and the Senate to implement initiatives that enhance academic quality.
• Serve on the top‑management team, contributing to university‑wide strategic and operational decisions.
• Promote interdisciplinary research, teaching innovation, and community outreach.

Required profile

• Proven senior academic and administrative experience in a university setting.
• Strong multidisciplinary relationships and a track record of academic leadership.
• Ability to drive strategic change and support multiple academic units.
