University Librarian – University of Saint Joseph

About the role

The University Librarian will provide strategic leadership for the University Library, guiding both traditional services and digital‑transformation initiatives to support teaching, learning and research at the University of Saint Joseph.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Library Strategic Plan, policies and operational procedures aligned with institutional priorities.
• Oversee acquisition, classification, cataloguing, preservation and dissemination of print, electronic and digital resources.
• Manage electronic resources, including e‑books, e‑journals, databases and the institutional digital repository.
• Promote effective use of integrated library systems and digital‑library technologies through training and user support.
• Advise university management on knowledge‑management, scholarly communication and resource allocation.
• Ensure library services meet the needs of teaching, research and community‑engagement programmes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or a related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive academic library management experience with supervisory and budget responsibilities.
• Proven track record of developing and executing library strategic plans and policies.
• Expertise in electronic‑resource licensing, digital repositories and integrated library systems.
• Strong knowledge of information‑literacy instruction, research‑support services and scholarly‑communication trends.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with faculty, students and external partners.

Required skills

• Experience with integrated library management platforms such as Koha or Alma.
• Electronic‑resource management and licensing.
• Digital repository administration.
• Open‑access initiatives and digital‑preservation standards.
• Data‑analysis and assessment methodologies for library impact evaluation.
