Head of Commercial Strategy & Execution – Uganda

About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking a senior commercial leader to design and execute its commercial vision in Uganda. You will bridge high‑level strategy with rural execution, overseeing market access for cash crops and rural retail operations.

Key responsibilities

• Define a 3–5 year commercial roadmap, conduct value‑chain analyses and decide strategic focus areas.
• Build and manage a pipeline of commercial pilots, scaling successful models country‑wide using data‑driven insights.
• Oversee end‑to‑end execution of crop buybacks and input sales, ensuring product quality and optimal last‑mile distribution.
• Own the P&L, driving revenue growth, margin optimisation and capital allocation; develop financial models covering OPEX, CAPEX and FX exposure.
• Lead partnership development with buyers, processors and distributors, representing the organisation at external events.
• Directly manage two workstream leads, fostering a high‑performing commercial team culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience in commercial strategy and execution, preferably within agriculture or related value chains.
• Demonstrated P&L ownership and financial modelling capability.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross‑functional teams.
