Head of Finance & Operations

About the role

Educate! is seeking a senior leader to own and strengthen the financial and operational functions for its Uganda hub. You will be responsible for end‑to‑end finance, procurement, and field logistics while ensuring compliance with donor and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full finance cycle: transaction processing, payroll, cash and bank management, month‑end close, and ledger integrity.
• Produce accurate management accounts, variance analysis, cash‑flow forecasts and foreign‑exchange risk reports.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, partner with budget owners, and deliver donor financial reports on time.
• Oversee operations, procurement and field logistics to ensure timely, compliant delivery of program resources.
• Maintain internal controls, lead external and donor audits, and manage statutory compliance.
• Lead and develop a team of managers across finance, operations and procurement, fostering a coaching culture.

Required profile

• 5+ years progressive finance and procurement experience, with at least 3 years managing people.
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA or equivalent) or equivalent experience.
• Proven ownership of full finance cycle, budgeting, management reporting and external audit.
• Experience with donor‑funded, multi‑currency operations and grant compliance.
• Strong systems orientation and ability to redesign processes.
