Internal Auditor

About the role

As the Internal Auditor at ABC, you will act as the third line of defence, providing independent assurance on governance, risk management, internal controls, financial processes, regulatory compliance and operations. The role requires a self‑starter who can manage work autonomously while engaging effectively with senior management and the Board Audit Committee.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute risk‑based internal audit plans covering financial, operational, technology, regulatory and compliance risks, for Board Audit Committee approval.
• Conduct independent audits, reviews and investigations in line with the Internal Audit Charter and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to Management and the Board.
• Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, governance processes and risk‑management frameworks.
• Follow up on audit findings, track issues and ensure timely resolution of high‑risk items.
• Identify emerging risks and control gaps, providing practical, value‑adding recommendations.
• Support the Board Audit Committee with objective reporting on the control environment and key risk areas.
• Maintain audit documentation that complies with professional standards and ABC policies.
• Stay updated on developments in financial services, payments, fintech, regulation, technology, fraud and internal audit practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
• At least five years of relevant internal audit, risk, assurance or related experience, preferably within financial services, banking, payments, fintech or another regulated environment.
• Professional accounting or internal audit qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIA) is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, financial processes and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, report‑writing and communication skills.
• High level of integrity, independence and professional judgement.
