Java Specialist (Part‑time Remote Internship)

About the role

This part‑time remote internship focuses on contributing to Java‑based open‑source projects. You will work alongside mentors and other contributors to design, implement, and improve features within a microservices ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement new features using Java and Jakarta EE.
• Develop, integrate, and maintain microservices architectures.
• Apply core design patterns to produce clean, modular code.
• Participate in code reviews and write unit and integration tests.
• Document technical solutions and communicate progress through online channels.
• Research best practices, optimise existing code, and propose improvements.

Required profile

• Strong Java programming skills with a solid foundation in software development.
• Current student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands‑on experience or coursework with Jakarta EE and enterprise Java technologies.
• Understanding of microservices design and implementation.
• Familiarity with version‑control systems such as Git.
• Ability to write clear technical documentation and collaborate remotely in a multicultural environment.
• Self‑directed, able to manage part‑time work, meet deadlines, and incorporate mentor feedback.
