Job description

About the role

ETG Coffee, based in Kampala, Uganda, is one of the country's leading coffee exporters and sources certified and conventional coffee from more than 20,000 registered farmers. The Digital Compliance & Traceability Officer ensures that farmer, plot and supply-chain data is accurate, complete and ready for regulatory, certification and sustainability requirements. The role manages the digital systems and processes behind EUDR due diligence, farmer registration and end-to-end coffee traceability, acting as focal point for farmer registration, geospatial data collection and traceability platforms.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage farmer registration and traceability data for EUDR, maintain farmer, plot and entity registries, coordinate traceability allocations and prepare compliance datasets on deforestation risk and geolocation verification
  • Maintain certification datasets, support digital certification workflows, manage inspection and verification survey configurations, and handle portal administration and application reviews
  • Administer digital platforms such as MergData and Meridia: configure surveys and workflows, monitor performance, onboard and train users, give first-line technical support and escalate issues to global teams
  • Clean, validate and process data, analyse data-quality indicators and support compliance, traceability and sustainability reporting
  • Coordinate enumerators, oversee data clerks and temporary data-entry staff, visit fields to verify data quality and run user training during intensive field activities

Required profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Agriculture, Computer Science or a related field
  • Up to two years of experience in data management, GIS, compliance systems, technology support or monitoring and evaluation; recent graduates with practical exposure are encouraged to apply
  • Excellent verbal and written English; proficiency in Luganda strongly preferred
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to coffee sourcing areas across Uganda

Required skills

  • Strong Excel skills, including data validation, analysis and reporting, and experience cleaning and maintaining datasets
  • Preferred: experience with sustainability, agricultural supply chains, certification programmes, traceability systems, farmer registration databases, mobile data collection or survey platforms, and training users of digital systems
  • Preferred: GIS software such as QGIS, and tools like Power BI, SQL, Python or Power Query

The role suits someone highly organised, hands-on and able to work independently and in a team, with good communication skills and comfort in an international, multicultural environment. Applications are made through the ETG application form; the deadline and interview arrangements are communicated separately.
