Lecturer (Economics) - Full Time

About the role

Uganda Christian University is recruiting a full-time Lecturer in Economics in Kampala. The post involves teaching courses assigned by the Dean or Head of Department, supervising students and carrying out research and publication.

Key responsibilities

• Teach in areas allocated by the Dean or Head of Department each semester.
• Assess exams and other assignments such as coursework, and mentor and supervise undergraduate research.
• Engage in academic research and publication.
• Take part in scholarly and professional activities and events of the School.
• Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.
• Help develop learning materials and maintain records on student progress, achievement and attendance.
• Provide pastoral support, counselling and career guidance to students.
• Comply with ODel guidelines and take part in community outreach programmes.
• Perform other official duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Economics, Economic Policy and Planning or Quantitative Economics from a recognised higher learning institution.
• Bachelor's degree in Economics or a related field.
• At least two years of university teaching experience at Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer level, or three years at Tutorial Assistant level.
• Minimum one academic research dissertation completed.
• Proven record of high-quality research and publications in economics, or evidence of teaching and supervision of undergraduates and graduates.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Commitment to research, quality teaching, student learning and continuous professional development.
• Must be a committed and practicing Christian.
