Lecturer (Law) - Full Time

About the role

Uganda Christian University is recruiting a full-time Lecturer (Law) based in Kampala, Kamwokya. The lecturer teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate level in law, carries out research and supervises students, and contributes to the curriculum and pastoral care of students.

Key responsibilities

• Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level in areas allocated by the Dean of Faculty or Head of Department.
• Carry out research, teaching, mentoring, supervision and administration within the school.
• Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.
• Help develop learning materials and maintain records on student progress, achievement and attendance.
• Supervise or assist in supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Participate in departmental and faculty seminars on research outcomes and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Take part in exam and assessment administration and marking.
• Mentor students, support internships and give pastoral, counselling and career guidance.
• Support the administration of department programmes and other activities as requested.

Required profile

• Master of Laws (LLM) from a recognised higher learning institution.
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognised higher learning institution.
• At least two years of university teaching experience at Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer level, or three years at Tutorial Assistant level.
• Minimum one academic research dissertation completed.
• Proven record of high-quality research reflected in publications or other research outputs in law.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Commitment to research, teaching, a positive learning environment and continuous professional development.
• Must be a committed and practicing Christian.
