Livelihood Program Officer

About the role

The International Development Institute Uganda is hiring a Livelihood Program Officer to implement livelihood programs in the Luuka District field office (Kamwokya, Jinja). The officer works with farmers, households and community groups to promote sustainable agriculture, climate-resilient farming, food security and household income generation. The position is full time.

Key responsibilities

• Implement livelihood program activities in line with approved work plans, budgets and organizational guidelines.
• Mobilize and engage farmers, households, community groups and local stakeholders in project activities.
• Train and support farmers in improved agricultural practices, crop production and farm management.
• Promote sustainable agriculture, climate-resilient farming, food security and income-generating activities, and support vulnerable households in building sustainable livelihoods.
• Facilitate market linkages between farmers, buyers, agricultural service providers and other value-chain actors.
• Organize community training, meetings, mentoring sessions and livelihood development activities.
• Coordinate with local government authorities, agricultural extension officers and community stakeholders.
• Monitor field activities, collect beneficiary data and maintain accurate records of program results.
• Prepare activity reports, field updates and supporting documentation for program and donor reporting.
• Support activity planning, resource coordination, expenditure documentation and accountability for program funds.
• Uphold the organization's Christian values, child safeguarding standards and principles of inclusion, transparency and accountability.

Required profile

• Valid driver's licence; applicants without it will not be considered.
• Resident of Luuka District or willing to move there is preferred, as the field office is in Luuka.
• At least 5 years of work experience, including NGO-related experience; applicants without the required experience will not be considered.
