MEAL Intern – Monitoring & Evaluation Support

About the role

The MEAL Intern will join DRC Uganda’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning team to support field‑level data collection, quality checks and reporting. This position offers hands‑on experience in humanitarian monitoring and basic data analysis while contributing to program improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Support routine field data collection using digital tools such as KoboCollect.
• Assist in conducting assessments, surveys and post‑distribution monitoring.
• Participate in spot checks and routine data quality checks.
• Enter, clean, compile and perform basic analysis of data using Excel or similar tools.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and activity reports.
• Maintain organized filing systems for MEAL tools, reports and monitoring documents.
• Collect and document beneficiary feedback and complaints through established accountability channels.
• Support community feedback sessions and field monitoring visits.
• Document success stories, lessons learned and good practices.
• Assist with logistics for MEAL activities, including attendance tracking and tool preparation.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Information Management, Data Science, Monitoring & Evaluation or a related field.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.
• Commitment to DRC’s values, ethical standards and cultural sensitivity.
• Willingness to work in field environments and a positive, constructive attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using digital data collection tools such as KoboCollect.
