MHPSS Emergency Response Team Coordinator

About the role

The MHPSS Emergency Response Team Coordinator provides technical and administrative support for mental health and psychosocial support programmes, ensuring quality assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Guide MHPSS staff on programme design, implementation, monitoring and donor reporting, ensuring compliance with IMC quality standards.
• Conduct needs assessments, develop high‑quality reports and lead programme development, proposal writing and integration of MHPSS into broader IMC activities.
• Manage the MHPSS team, oversee staffing, training, performance appraisal and coordination with protection, health and other sectors.
• Represent IMC in inter‑agency coordination groups, cluster meetings and liaise with government, NGOs and community partners.

Required profile

• University degree (or equivalent) in psychology, clinical social work, psychiatry, nursing or related field.
• Minimum 7 years relevant experience, including at least 4 years in humanitarian MHPSS work in emergencies or conflict settings.
• Demonstrated expertise with IASC MHPSS guidelines, Psychological First Aid and capacity‑building programmes.
• Strong organisational, supervisory and intercultural communication skills; ability to travel on short notice.

Required skills

• Use of IASC MHPSS assessment tools and WHO/UNHCR MHPSS toolkit.
• Development of data‑collection tools and reporting templates.
• Design and delivery of training on MHPSS guidelines and Psychological First Aid.
• Proposal writing and donor report preparation.
