Middle/Upper School English Instructor

About the role

The Donoho School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle/Upper School English Instructor to design and deliver high‑quality instruction in grammar, writing, literature, and critical analysis. The role may include teaching Advanced Placement courses and potentially serving as English Department Head for qualified candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver rigorous English lessons aligned with school curricular standards.
• Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
• Establish and maintain a positive learning environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and academic excellence.
• Collaborate with colleagues and administration to share best practices, align curriculum, and support student learning.
• Utilize technology for grade reporting, innovative learning experiences, and responsible digital citizenship.
• Participate in school activities, maintain open communication with parents, sponsor clubs or student groups, and perform other duties as assigned by the Director/Head of School.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Previous experience teaching at the middle/secondary level or in a collegiate setting.
• Strong knowledge of English content and pedagogy, with a commitment to lifelong learning.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the school community.
