Mobile Application Developer

About the role

MOTOFIX Uganda is looking for a Mobile Application Developer to design, build, and maintain the mobile experience that connects motorists with trusted mechanics across Uganda. This full‑time hybrid role is based in Nansana with the flexibility to work from home when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new features and improve existing functionality for iOS and Android applications.
• Implement secure payment flows, real‑time tracking, and push notifications.
• Integrate mobile apps with backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Debug, test, and optimise applications for low‑bandwidth environments and a wide range of devices.
• Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to translate roadside‑assistance challenges into intuitive mobile solutions.
• Maintain technical documentation and participate in code reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Interest in mobility, transport or automotive services in Uganda.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑moving startup environment.

Required skills

• Mobile Application Development (iOS and Android).
• iOS development following Apple guidelines.
• Android development using Kotlin or Java.
• Cross‑platform frameworks such as Flutter or React Native.
• Object‑Oriented Programming principles and modern development frameworks.
• Experience with app architecture, APIs and backend integration.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON and secure data handling (payments, authentication).
• Testing, debugging and performance optimisation for low‑bandwidth conditions.
