Nutanix Engineer & Networking IT Support (Freelance – On‑Call)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Nutanix Engineer / Networking IT Support Engineer to join our team on a freelance, on‑call basis. The role involves providing break‑and‑fix support for enterprise infrastructure, both onsite in Kampala and remotely, ensuring rapid resolution of hardware, network and virtualization incidents while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver onsite and remote break‑and‑fix support for networking and infrastructure issues.
• Deploy, configure and manage Nutanix HCI environments (AOS, AHV, Prism).
• Perform system upgrades, patching and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, virtualization and network problems.
• Resolve network connectivity issues involving TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching.
• Implement and support backup and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Respond to critical incidents within agreed response times.
• Collaborate with global and regional teams on infrastructure and cloud projects.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and incident reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization, networking or IT support engineering.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Nutanix ecosystem (AOS, AHV, Prism).
• Experience supporting VMware and/or Hyper‑V environments.
• Valid CCNA certification and at least 90% score on the induction assessment.
• Fluent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
• Ability to work independently in customer‑facing environments.
