About the role

Q-Sourcing, a manpower management firm operating across East Africa, is recruiting on behalf of its client EADB Bank to appoint an Officer Legal in Kampala, at the bank's head office. The role reports to the Manager Litigation and Contracts within the Legal department and supports the delivery of timely and accurate legal services, ensuring the bank's operations comply with applicable laws and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and analyse standard legal documents such as loan agreements, contracts, leases, MoUs and NDAs.
• Conduct legal research and prepare opinions on diverse legal matters.
• Support the Manager Legal in ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory obligations.
• Assist in due diligence for credit and investment transactions.
• Maintain and update legal files, databases and records.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the bank's operations.
• Support the preparation of Board documentation and adherence to Board governance procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognised university in a common law system.
• Admission to the Bar in a recognised jurisdiction is mandatory.
• At least 3 years of legal practice experience in a law firm, financial institution or corporate legal department.
• Experience in commercial law, banking and finance or development finance is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of financial law and credit transactions.
• Legal document management, legal research and legal writing and analysis.
• Compliance knowledge and due diligence.
• Communication, integrity, problem solving, attention to detail, advocacy, adaptability and teamwork.

The position is office-based with occasional travel for loan documentation, due diligence missions or legal proceedings; working beyond normal hours may be required for legal and Board deadlines.
