About the role
Makerere University is hiring a Technician for its Department of Pathology in Kampala. The role supports the laboratory by helping to formulate, review and maintain standard operating procedures, and covers reporting, equipment management, student practicals and quality assurance.
Key responsibilities
- Generate reports, inventories and orders for the unit
- Manage the use of laboratory equipment and facilities
- Prepare and supervise students' practicals, and liaise with and support academic staff in teaching them
- Implement and maintain guidelines and regulations ensuring quality assurance, control and safety
- Induct and mentor junior staff on technical skills
Required profile
- Honours Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience
- Areas of specialization: Fine Needle Aspiration (FNAC), cell block preparation, routine histology staining, special staining and immunohistochemistry
