Patient Service Representative

About the role
The Patient Service Representative provides essential front‑office support in a medical setting, ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate billing processes. The role involves interacting with patients and families to clarify insurance and payment matters before procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Capture charges and post over‑the‑counter payments.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain pre‑authorizations or certifications.
- Counsel patients and families on insurance coverage and out‑of‑pocket costs prior to surgery.
- Enter accurate demographic and insurance information into the billing system.
- Register patients, collect co‑pays, deductibles, and other payments at the time of service.
- Post approved adjustments to patient accounts and reconcile daily receipts.
- Prepare audit trails and ensure compliance with billing standards.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED (college degree is a plus).
- Minimum two years of front‑office experience in a medical environment.
