Payroll Analyst – 35 hrs/week

About the role

The Payroll Analyst supports employees with pay and pension matters for the J.W. Singleton Education Centre. Working 35 hours per week, the role handles bi‑weekly payroll cycles, pension administration and maintains employee payroll data.

Key responsibilities

• Process bi‑weekly payroll for salaried and hourly staff in union and non‑union environments.
• Administer pension plans (Teachers’ Pension, OMERS) and issue Records of Employment.
• Maintain and update the payroll database, handling new hires, salary adjustments, leaves and terminations.
• Prepare year‑end reporting, including T4s and pension contributions.
• Train new payroll analysts and document payroll/pension procedures.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary diploma in Business Administration, Accounting or Bookkeeping.
• At least two years of payroll‑related experience; four years preferred, including experience in a unionized environment.
• Professional designations such as Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) and Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) are preferred.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.
• Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification.
• Familiarity with HRIS systems and external payroll providers.
• Knowledge of OMERS, Teachers’ Pension Plan and Service Canada processes.
