Payroll Analyst – 35 hrs/week

About the role

Under the supervision of the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Analyst supports employees with pay and pension matters, processing bi‑weekly payroll cycles for specific employee groups and maintaining payroll data.

Key responsibilities

• Administer conditions of employment, process new hires, salary adjustments, leaves and statutory pay.
• Manage the full bi‑weekly payroll cycle for both union and non‑union staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare year‑end reporting, including T4s and pension documentation.
• Verify pension contribution data and calculate rates for EI, CPP, taxes, union dues and other deductions.
• Respond to inquiries from OMERS, Teachers’ Pension Plan, Service Canada and employees.
• Train new payroll analysts and document payroll/pension procedures.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary diploma in Business Administration, Accounting or bookkeeping.
• At least two years of payroll‑related experience.
• Four years of relevant experience preferred, including experience in a unionized environment.
• Professional designations such as PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) and CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) are preferred.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.
• PCP – Payroll Compliance Professional.
• CHRP – Certified Human Resources Professional.
• Familiarity with external payroll providers, HRIS systems, OMERS, Teachers’ Pension Plan and Service Canada.
