Produce Lead

About the role

We are looking for a Produce Lead to oversee the produce department, ensuring an exceptional shopping experience and maintaining high standards of freshness, safety, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Engage peers to provide the best possible shopping and checkout experience for customers.
• Communicate with team members and assign daily work tasks.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals while maintaining Meijer standards.
• Support training of new hires and cross‑train high‑potential talent.
• Collaborate with leadership on schedule planning to improve engagement, service, sales and profitability.
• Monitor product freshness by enforcing rotation and dating policies.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and safe work practices.
• Oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing and product display where applicable.
• Foster an inclusive culture that values diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Operate a register and handle cash when needed.
• Use powered equipment where applicable.
• Participate in period‑end inventories to help achieve goals.

Required profile

• Passion for customer service with an approachable demeanor.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Retail or other customer‑service experience preferred.
• Creative thinking and ability to influence others.
• Ability to quickly build rapport and gain customer confidence.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend and twist while handling product.
