Production Supervisor

About the role

Louis Dreyfus Company, a global merchant and processor of agricultural goods, is looking for a Production Supervisor to assist the Deputy Asset Manager in running an assigned production area. The role covers production, quality, cost, delivery, technical, safety and human resources, with a 60% on-site and 40% office split and mandatory night-shift coverage during peak season.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day production, monitor KPIs such as plan versus actual, and drive team performance with direction and feedback
• Maintain a safe workplace, enforce standard operating procedures and promote total productive maintenance
• Coordinate with support functions on production planning, resource allocation and vendor negotiations, and report machinery breakdowns to maintenance
• Implement engineering changes, production trials and model changes, and compile and analyse production reports
• Manage staff, including training operators on clean grades and processes, scheduling shifts and monitoring attendance and performance
• Plan and run the food safety system (PRPs, HACCP, sanitation, personnel hygiene), ensure coffee traceability and carry out internal audits
• Participate in budget planning, stock takes and inventory of wet and dried coffee and clean grades
• Meet a 12-hour schedule in day or night shifts, Monday to Sunday when required

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years as a production supervisor or similar, in warehouses, factories and industrial environments
• Experience with processing machinery, day and night shift rotation, and safety, health and environmental practices
• Good knowledge of personnel management, team scheduling, overtime and employment acts, quality controls and budgeting
• Education in industry, food, mechanical or other engineering fields
• Excellent written and spoken English and Luganda
