Senior Production Operator - Well Pads (Rotational)

About the role

TotalEnergies is recruiting a Support Senior Production Operator for the Tilenga oilfield in Buliisa, Uganda. The project produces heavy and waxy oil from 29 well pads, with 9 in a national park, and treats it at a 200,000 bopd production centre. The role is rotational, lasting 18 months or more, and involves supporting the production supervisor with well pad start-ups, operations, safety and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare start-up procedures and pre-start-up checklists, and lead well pad start-ups safely with junior operators
• Operate wells and ESPs, troubleshoot problems and adjust operations under the production supervisor's direction
• Prepare wells for slickline, wireline, coiled tubing and work-over operations, and take part in well handovers
• Operate pumps, compressors, chemical injection packages and direct truck operations on site
• Perform pigging safely with full documentation, and train junior operators on it
• Act as operating and isolating authority for the PTW system, prepare isolation certificates, perform zero-energy checks and gas testing
• Perform L1 and L2 maintenance, and be a member of the Emergency Response Team
• Carry out daily safety and process rounds, sampling, monitoring and housekeeping
• Produce regular production reports, keep a logbook, and take part in the Lessons Learned System
• Share experience with newcomers, ensure safe handovers and set an example on site

Required profile

• Diploma of Higher Education or BTCE, with education in operational safety, production and well operations
• More than 7 years of professional experience, including 2 years in a similar position
• Fluent English (above 3.5) and good communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure, adapt to an international environment and work in a multicultural setting
• Valid medical certificate per company standards

Required skills

• Familiarity with DCS and Microsoft Office
• Good knowledge of TotalEnergies HSE rules, SIMOPS and PTW, or equivalent in oil and gas
• Ability to use breathing apparatus (Cascade and/or self-contained)
