Professional Driver for International Development Institute Uganda

About the role

The International Development Institute Uganda is seeking a reliable driver to provide safe and timely transportation for staff, visitors, and organizational materials across multiple locations. The role requires maintaining a clean, road‑worthy vehicle and adhering to the institute’s Christian values and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Transport staff, visitors and materials to authorized destinations while complying with traffic laws.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections (fuel, oil, tires, brakes, lights) and report maintenance needs.
• Keep the vehicle clean and ensure timely servicing and repairs.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and fuel usage records using AppSheet.
• Ensure all vehicle licences, insurance and documentation remain valid.
• Report accidents, mechanical faults or security incidents immediately.
• Support logistics and transport‑related activities as assigned.

Required profile

• Valid Ugandan driving permit with Classes B, C1 and C.
• Minimum five consecutive years of professional driving experience.
• Defensive Driving Training certificate from a recognised Ugandan institution.
• Clean driving record with no major accidents or serious violations.
• Strong knowledge of road networks in Jinja, Mayuge, Kamuli, Luuka, Kumi, Katakwi, Amuria, Fort Portal, Karangura, Kampala and Entebbe.
• Ability to work independently, punctual and trustworthy.
