Project Officer - Livestock

About the role

The Livestock Project Officer will lead the implementation, monitoring and reporting of livestock components within the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP). The role supports smallholder farmers, especially poultry and pig producers, to improve productivity, resilience and market access through climate‑smart practices.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and supervise livestock activities, including training, demonstrations and distribution of improved breeds, feeds and veterinary inputs.
• Promote climate‑smart livestock management such as housing design, disease prevention, feed formulation and sustainable feed solutions (e.g., Black Soldier Fly production).
• Facilitate the formation and strengthening of farmer groups and linkages to local markets for livestock products.
• Collect, analyse and report data on livestock outputs, impacts on nutrition and income, and ensure compliance with CRS reporting standards.
• Coordinate with project partners, government agencies and community stakeholders to align interventions with national refugee and agricultural policies.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in animal science, agriculture, veterinary medicine or related field.
• Proven experience working with smallholder livestock systems, preferably in poultry and pig production.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural environments and with refugee‑host communities.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with fluency in English.
