Public Health Emergency Specialist (National Consultant)

About the role
The Public Health Emergency Specialist will support UNICEF’s country office in Uganda by leading the rollout of its comprehensive public health emergency (PHE) prevention and response strategy. This consultancy will strengthen Uganda’s health security framework through technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and effective grant management.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate the implementation of UNICEF’s PHE prevention and response strategy in Uganda.
- Provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health on public health emergency preparedness and response.
- Manage large, complex grants from multilateral and bilateral donors.
- Coordinate multi‑stakeholder consultations and ensure alignment with national health sector systems.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Global Health, Health Systems Strengthening or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in public health emergencies or related public health fields.
- Demonstrated experience managing large, complex grants from multilateral and bilateral donors.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
