About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking a Commercial Lead for Uganda to shape and execute its commercial vision. The role bridges high‑level strategy with on‑the‑ground execution, overseeing market access for cash crops and rural retail operations.

Key responsibilities

• Define a 3–5‑year commercial roadmap, conducting value‑chain analyses to determine strategic focus.
• Build and manage a pipeline of commercial pilots, using data‑driven insights to scale innovations.
• Oversee end‑to‑end execution of crop buybacks and input sales, ensuring product quality and efficient last‑mile distribution.
• Own the P&L, driving revenue growth, margin optimisation, and capital allocation while modelling OPEX, CAPEX and FX exposure.
• Lead partnership development with buyers, processors and distributors, representing the organisation at external events.
• Manage two workstream leads, fostering a high‑performing commercial team culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience in commercial leadership with full P&L responsibility.
• Track record of designing and scaling market‑access or retail pilots.
• Strong partnership‑building skills with buyers, processors or distributors.
• Experience managing small teams and driving operational excellence.
