Research Analyst

About the role

Laterite, a data, research and analytics firm working on complex development challenges, is hiring a Research Analyst for its Kampala office. The role combines research design, data analysis, project management support, data quality analysis and fieldwork coordination in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You will report to the Research Manager and Uganda country lead.

Key responsibilities

• Support research projects: ethical approval, research design, research instruments, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and draft sections of client reports and presentations.
• Contribute to data collection: code survey instruments in SurveyCTO and other ODK-based platforms, help develop enumerator training materials, and take part in field visits.
• Strengthen data quality and analysis: monitor, clean and validate survey data, resolve data quality issues with field teams, and support statistical analysis and reporting.
• Optional: contribute to business development, including technical and financial proposals.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Economics, Public Health, Development, Statistics or a related field.
• At least one year of professional experience in similar roles; internships, dissertation work or academic research group experience are accepted if they meet the role's requirements.
• Excellent written and oral English.
• Organizational and interpersonal skills, self-motivation and drive to work collaboratively.

Required skills

• Strong quantitative data analysis skills and proficiency in Stata.
• ODK-based platforms (e.g. SurveyCTO) are welcomed.
• R or Python are welcomed.

• Gross monthly salary of $2,979 - $4,092, depending on experience.
