Sales Engineer – Food Ingredients (Kampala)

About the role

REDA Chemicals is expanding its footprint in East Africa and seeks a Sales Engineer focused on food ingredients. Based in Kampala, you will drive sales growth across the Ugandan and regional food processing market, building strong relationships with customers and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities for REDA’s food ingredients portfolio in Uganda and the wider East Africa region.
• Lead sales and business development initiatives across dairy, bakery, confectionery, beverages and savoury segments.
• Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers while prospecting new accounts.
• Collaborate with strategic suppliers and internal sourcing and technical teams to expand the product range and meet profit targets.
• Support customers by understanding their formulations, processing challenges and product requirements, proposing suitable ingredient solutions.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, pricing dynamics and regulatory developments.
• Prepare sales forecasts, demand plans and coordinate inventory to ensure timely deliveries.
• Oversee purchase orders, order fulfilment and maintain accurate CRM and sales documentation.
• Report regularly on sales performance, pipeline and business development activities.
• Implement credit control and collection practices to minimise bad debts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in food science & technology, chemistry or a related field.
• Proven experience in technical sales within the food processing industry.
• Strong understanding of food ingredients and their applications.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast‑growing environment.
