Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide full‑range engineering, construction quality assurance, and technical oversight for a 24‑month project in Kampala, Uganda. The role ensures that all electrical works are executed to U.S. standards and meet design and contract specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical inspections of electrical installations, including power distribution, transformers, switchgear, utility poles, panel boards, lighting and demolition work.
• Monitor the contractor’s quality‑control and safety programs, ensuring compliance with design drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Review and approve shop drawings, submittals and coordination documents, identifying any non‑conformities.
• Observe onsite construction, verify proper installation of electrical elements, and recommend corrective actions.
• Track construction progress against the schedule and submit weekly progress reports with technical recommendations.
• Prepare detailed construction reports, evaluate contractor remediation proposals, and formulate solutions for the Project Director.

Required profile

• Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited university.
• Extensive experience in building construction related to onsite power distribution for large facilities.
• Proven ability to read and interpret design/construction drawings and calculations.
• Experience with telecommuting and technical security systems is desirable.
