Senior HSES Specialist

About the role

The Senior HSES Specialist uses best practices to solve complex health, safety, environment and security (HSES) problems and applies discipline‑specific knowledge to improve HSES performance. Working with considerable autonomy, the role balances field‑based activities with business administration duties and serves as a resource for less‑experienced colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Implement McDermott HSES Management System in line with client, legislative and contractual requirements.
• Develop and maintain HSES plans, procedures, risk assessments and activity schedules.
• Conduct internal and external HSES audits, monitor effectiveness of the Project HSES Management Plan and manage subcontractor/vendor HSES performance.
• Facilitate risk‑based HSES culture, track KPIs, analyse statistics, report trends and drive continual improvement.
• Lead incident investigations, prepare reports and ensure timely reporting of injuries, near‑misses and environmental incidents.
• Collaborate with the Project Management Team and clients on hazard control interventions and gap analyses.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in an HSES‑related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 6 years of experience in the energy industry.
• Advanced knowledge of local and international HSES laws, codes and regulations.
• Certified ISO lead auditor (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001).
• Ability to work both independently and as a team leader.
