Senior Lecturer (Law) - Full Time

About the role

Uganda Christian University is recruiting a full-time Senior Lecturer in Law based in Kampala (Kamwokya). The post involves teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, research and supervision, and pastoral and administrative work within the law faculty.

Key responsibilities

• Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level in areas allocated by the Dean of Faculty or Head of Department.
• Carry out research, teaching, mentoring, supervision and administration within the school.
• Engage with the broader scholarly and professional communities.
• Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.
• Help develop learning materials and maintain records on student progress, achievement and attendance.
• Supervise or assist in supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Take part in departmental and faculty seminars on research outcomes and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Participate in exam and assessment development, administration and marking.
• Mentor students, support internships and give pastoral care, counselling and career guidance.
• Take part in the administration of department programmes and other activities as requested.

Required profile

• PhD in Law or LLD from a recognised higher learning institution.
• Master of Laws (LLM) from a recognised institution.
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognised institution.
• At least three years of university-level teaching at the rank of Lecturer.
• Two current peer-reviewed scholarly articles, or one article and two book chapters, or a book in the specialist area.
• Outstanding skill and effectiveness in teaching, research and supervision of undergraduates.
• Committed and practicing Christian.
