Senior Network Engineer

About the role

Aircom Global Networks is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join its Kampala office. The role focuses on designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise‑grade network infrastructure across fiber, wired and wireless environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy scalable network architectures, including routers, switches and firewalls.
• Configure, monitor and maintain routing and switching infrastructure.
• Implement and manage VPNs, access control and other security mechanisms.
• Diagnose and resolve performance, connectivity and reliability issues.
• Collaborate with data‑center, cloud and security teams to support integrated solutions.
• Document network designs, create implementation plans and participate in capacity planning.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Required profile

• Strong background in network engineering and design for complex enterprise environments.
• Solid experience in network administration, monitoring and maintenance.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills for performance and reliability problems.
• Practical knowledge of network security, firewalls and VPN technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field (preferred).
• Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP or equivalent.
• Experience with data‑center networking, cloud connectivity and high‑availability architectures is a plus.
• Excellent documentation, communication and collaboration abilities.
