Senior Standards and Compliance Officer – Home Science Education

About the role

The Senior Standards and Compliance Officer will lead the development, implementation, monitoring and enforcement of national TVET standards for Home Science education and training. The role ensures that TVET providers, programmes, trainers and facilities meet approved standards and contribute to a quality‑assured, labour‑market responsive system.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development, validation and periodic review of national TVET standards for institutions, programmes, trainers, facilities and assessment systems.
• Plan and conduct institutional audits, compliance assessments and inspections, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Assist TVET providers in interpreting standards, developing improvement plans and implementing self‑assessment frameworks.
• Engage industry stakeholders, provide technical guidance and deliver capacity‑building workshops on standards and compliance.
• Maintain accurate records, update national databases and generate compliance statistics for reporting.
• Supervise and mentor junior standards and compliance officers, preparing unit plans and performance agreements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics, Fashion and Design, Tourism and Hospitality or related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
• At least six years of post‑bachelor experience in TVET systems, standards development or quality assurance, with three years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of the TVET Act 2025, competency‑based training and occupational standards.
• High integrity, analytical ability and excellent communication skills.
