Special Support Mathematics Teacher – IGCSE

About the role

The Special Support Mathematics Teacher will lead a bridging programme for multilingual secondary learners, rebuilding essential maths understanding from basic numeracy to Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics. The role focuses on confidence‑building, reasoning, problem‑solving and independent learning.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify strengths and gaps.
• Design and deliver a structured bridging curriculum aligned with Cambridge pathways.
• Provide engaging, learner‑centred lessons using differentiated strategies.
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, resources, homework and assessments.
• Monitor progress through continuous assessment and maintain individual learner profiles.
• Offer targeted remedial support and prepare regular progress reports.
• Foster a positive environment that builds resilience and a growth mindset.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education or related field.
• Minimum three years of teaching experience, preferably with learners aged 11‑15.
• Experience supporting learners with gaps or providing remedial education.
• Empathetic, patient and willing to adopt new teaching approaches.

Required skills

• Training in differentiated instruction and learner‑centred methodologies.
• Familiarity with Cambridge Lower Secondary and IGCSE Mathematics curricula.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication abilities.
