Special Support English Teacher for Upper & Lower Primary

About the role

The Special Support English Teacher will work with a group of English Language Learners in Upper and Lower Primary grades, helping them improve their proficiency to meet the UNEB curriculum standards. The role involves both in‑class support and pull‑out sessions, using tailored materials and, where approved, e‑learning tools.

Key responsibilities

• Review diagnostic assessments, student work and teacher reports to gauge each learner’s English proficiency.
• Develop termly schemes of work, weekly/monthly planners, worksheets and session‑specific learning plans using language and reading domains.
• Provide in‑class and pull‑out support to enhance English skills, enabling learners to work confidently with the UNEB curriculum.
• Utilise approved e‑learning tools to reinforce reading and language development.
• Monitor daily progress and submit weekly individual progress reports to the Head of Operations, Student Affairs, Head‑Teacher and CEO.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education with an English specialization, or a BA with a recognised TEFL/TESOL qualification.
• Minimum 2 years of experience teaching English to non‑native speakers; experience with beginners and ESL/EAL learners is an advantage.
• Empathetic, patient and able to work with small groups or individually.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills; willingness to take direction and adopt new teaching methods.
• Experience working with refugees is a plus.
