Technical Field Lead

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Technical Field Lead to provide technical guidance and oversight for shelter, construction, procurement, and cash programming activities in Uganda’s Adjumani Refugee Settlement. The role supports protection initiatives, including gender‑based violence prevention, child protection, and access to justice, while ensuring compliance with IRC policies and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical assistance to field teams on shelter design, construction standards, and procurement processes.
• Coordinate with the District Engineer, UN agencies, and local authorities to align activities with sector working groups.
• Lead protection‑focused interventions addressing GBV, child protection, legal assistance, and cash support for vulnerable beneficiaries.
• Oversee beneficiary targeting, verification, and monitoring to ensure accurate delivery of shelter and non‑food items.
• Ensure all project activities meet IRC, donor, and humanitarian sector standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian shelter or construction programmes, preferably in refugee settings.
• Strong understanding of protection principles, especially GBV and child protection.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑stakeholder teams and local authorities.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of shelter construction standards and procurement processes.
• Experience with protection programming, including GBV response and child protection.
• Familiarity with donor compliance and monitoring frameworks.
