Temporary Accountant

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Temporary Accountant to support its Western regional offices in Uganda. The role focuses on cash management, payment processing, and financial documentation to ensure smooth operations and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage cash deposits, petty cash, and mobile money wallets, maintaining adequate cash levels for field operations.
• Upload and initiate verified payment requests for beneficiaries, ensuring timely approvals and providing payment proofs.
• Support staff with user guidance and troubleshooting for the payment system and banking platform.
• Prepare petty cash and bank top‑up requests backed by reconciled cash balances and bank statements.
• Maintain organized filing systems, retrieve documents for audits, and register journals and advance payments according to policies.
• Assist in emergency situations and other finance‑related tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Basic understanding of cash handling, banking procedures, and mobile money transactions.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow established financial policies.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with senior accountants and field staff.
