Trauma-Informed Staff Care Process Support Consultant (Uganda)

About the role

EIRENE International Christian Peace Service is seeking a consultant to design and facilitate a trauma‑informed, decolonial process that supports staff working in refugee and host communities in West Nile and West Uganda. The role focuses on helping staff cope with the cumulative emotional toll of witnessing conflict, displacement and loss.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead trauma‑informed, decolonial conversation sessions for ICSS staff.
• Co‑create sustainable, resourced mechanisms for ongoing staff wellbeing.
• Collaborate with local partner organisations to align support processes with existing peacebuilding programmes.
• Document and evaluate the impact of the support process, providing recommendations for improvement.
• Provide guidance on handling personal histories of displacement while maintaining professional boundaries.

Required profile

• Proven experience in trauma‑informed practice and decolonial methodologies.
• Background working in humanitarian or peacebuilding contexts, preferably with refugee populations.
• Strong facilitation and group‑process skills.
• Ability to work sensitively with staff who are themselves survivors of conflict.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
