WASH Officer – Temporary (3 months) – Arua, Uganda

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a WASH Officer to support rapid, life‑saving water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and infection prevention and control (IPC) activities in response to the Ebola outbreak in Uganda’s West Nile region. The role is based in Arua and will last for three months.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning and delivery of emergency WASH and IPC response, including supplies, services and partnership coordination.
• Strengthen WASH coordination with government, UN agencies, NGOs and district authorities to ensure a coherent response.
• Build partner capacity through tools, assessments, templates, training and technical support for WASH in emergencies.
• Monitor implementation, identify gaps, support corrective actions and report on progress for affected children and communities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Health Engineering, Public Health, Environment, Behaviour Change Communication, WASH or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in construction of WASH facilities, programme management, water & environmental sanitation, emergency response, emergency coordination or infection prevention and control.
• Fluency in English.
