Weigh Station Operations Expert

About the role

DT Global seeks a Weigh Station Operations Expert to improve freight movement efficiency along Uganda’s Northern Corridor. The role involves establishing baseline logistics performance at weigh stations, designing operational improvements, and piloting new processes in collaboration with public and private stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct end‑to‑end on‑site process mapping from vehicle arrival to exit, including diversions, static checks, enforcement, and data capture.
• Develop a standardized SOP compendium covering inspection sequences, exceptions, roles, data capture points, job aids, and driver guidance.
• Recommend site‑specific operational enhancements such as layout adjustments, queue management, and shift planning, focusing on low‑cost measures.
• Support Kenya peer‑exchange activities, draft technical notes, and embed UNBS calibration requirements into SOPs.
• Lead a 2–3‑week on‑the‑job coaching pilot, refine SOPs, establish monitoring mechanisms, and create a security checklist with security staff.

Required profile

• Technical degree in engineering (transport, electrical, mechanical) or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• At least 8 years of experience planning, operating, or optimizing weigh stations or axle‑load control in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Proven track record authoring SOPs, operations manuals, and delivering training.
• Strong knowledge of calibration, maintenance regimes, documentation, and inspection intervals.
